Vintage Franz Schwarzer Zither Auto Harp String Instrument Violin Guitar#7508
You are bidding on a vintage zither made by Franz Schwarzer, Washington,Missouri around the turn of the century circa 1890 / 1900. It measures approx. 14 by 26 inches. The zither has amazing wood construction with a Rosewood top and Mahogany sides with string inlay. The edges, the tuning pegs, and the small feet on the back are all made of bone. The entire piece has a wonderful old patina and color. No case. It was made to hold 42 strings with 5 over the fret board and 41 over the body. It has a wonderful clear bold tone with no buzzing. Fret board is flat and straight and marked with serial number 7508.
CONDITION: GOOD. There are two tuning pegs that are slightly bent but still work fine. There is also one missing foot on back. There is the remnant of an old paper label on the back. Otherwise very good. The wood veneers are in excellent condition with no lifting or loose parts. The surface patina is excellent. No case.
